Abstract

Efficient two-dimensional numerical model for free surface flows is defined on the basis of two-dimensional mathematical shallow water model. Shallow water equations are solved using implicit numerical methods with a number of additional numerical procedures for simulation of two-dimensional general, steady and unsteady flow problems. The simulation of unsteady problems with implicit numerical scheme includes simulation of flooding wave propagation over dry terrain, efficiently calculated by employing flexible numerical domain that changes as flooding front advances. The computer code for two-dimensional flow simulations is developed and implemented on Toce river standard test case.
