Comparison of computation and measurement of the waterhammer phenomenon in HE

Abstract

In this paper a complete case study of the waterhammer in the hydroelectric power plant “Gojak”, Croatia is presented. The task consists not only in the mathematical modeling of the phenomenon but also in the development of a computer program, collection of all the relevant data on the pipeline and measurements of pressure during transient states. In the presented case all this is accomplished and comparison of measurement and computation shows that an excellent tool for waterhammer simulation in the pipeline in question is developed.
